Macarons and hamburgers
March 20th is Macaron Day in France. It's one of those made up marketing stunts to get you to buy a macaron or 20 at your local patisserie. Here's how it works:1. You walk in to donate a pittance to some charity.2. In thanks you are given one "free" macaron.3. With meringue sweetness and ganache dancing on your tongue you proceed to purchase a sleeve of macarons.4. Take one bite of each on sidewalk outside store.5. Consider repeating. In honor of my inability to practice temperance, I have painted up a macaron-inspired Paris Letter for March.Of course all this macaron talk got me revved up to further the study of these pastel wonder cookies. I've been trying a new art style. Less pen. More dreamy fuzziness. Pleased with one of my renderings, I showed Christophe...He asked me why I painted a hamburger. Only after I took a second glance did I realize my citron macaron did indeed look like a hamburger, complete with melted cheese.
Not what I was going for.
So I continued, but this time with a framboise macaron.
Better.
I kept going, this time with a vanille chocolat macaron.
Back to hamburger.
And back to the drawing board.
