Café in early morning

Café in early morning, ParisThis is one of my favourite photos of my Paris photo collection. I took it from the bar where I sat with my friend who I would meet for coffee on occasion. He was a nomadic blogger, which meant he zigzagged around Europe. Whenever he was in Paris, we met at this café in the Marais for coffee, mid-morning, mid-week.

He had quit his corporate gig in the USA too.

And now we were both in Paris. Poor but happy. He survived on crackers, cheap wine, and wits.We had met at Notre Dame. I was looking for the English side of program. He sat next to me and pointed it out. Turns out we both spoke the same language, which is all one really needs to forge a friendship on the road.

He is a photographer.

So we spent a lot of our time discussing photography, developing and cameras. In fact, it was he who pointed me in the right direction when I was buying my new camera. As I have been curating my photos years later, far away from that café, I remember my friend, wonder where he is, and hope he's more than just getting by on crackers, cheap wine, and wits.
