Truth be told, this 500 Things Experiment I’ve got going on is mostly about painting pretty Paris storefronts. There are hundreds I want to paint. All of them piquing the imagination. Whatever could happen behind those glass doors?
Here is the first round.
I was taking an early morning bus ride and spotted this waiter putting out the chairs for the day. He lined them all up with such precision that I wondered if this was his daily meditation.
I spotted this chic coiffure whilst waiting for the lovely Alison and Carole to join me for lunch at a wine bar by Canal St. Martin. I almost went in just because I was attracted to the yellow. I felt the same about this tabac shop…
Carl Marletti also made my wedding cake. Lemon, bien sur. He’s brilliant with citron.
Odette isn’t a new painting, but this print works with this collection. And I decided to put it on sale, so it’s a mere $10 like the rest of them. I like matchy-matchiness. Don’t you? The original watercolours are also available. None of them have those dumb copyright watermarks on them. That’s just a necessity of the internet.
Now, back to painting the rest of Paris. By the end of the year I’ll have recreated the whole city and have all the prints lining the walls. A veritable village. It’s going to be fantastique.
