I’ve got three people on my mind. One that needs strength, one that needs love and one that needs guidance. In each case when chatting with these fine folks there came a point when I didn’t have an answer for their issues, so I said, “I’ll light a candle.”
They exhaled, relieved, and said “Thanks.”
That’s just what they needed. Really. Somehow lighting a candle for someone is like a spiritual boost. When we can’t be in control of a situation and have to look to the invisible, the flicker of a candle seems to be a gateway.
So I lit three candles.
Whenever I walk by, I think of these three people and pray their situations will resolve peacefully, quickly and be beneficial to all involved.
Side effect: I feel more connected to the divine.
No need for meditation, evidently. Candles seem to be doing the trick. They are just candles. And yet, so much more. The house is more serene. My mind feels more quiet. And even I feel more strength, loved and guided, even though I wasn’t even lighting the candles for me.
Try it. Let me know how it goes.
